Ocean County Water Assistance Program Grant ($500)        

The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders has allocated funds to establish a Water Assistance Program as part of its Community Development Block Grant Program.

The Program is intended to provide financial assistance to persons who own a one or two family home for connection to the local public water system.

Homeowners who meet the program eligibility requirements may receive a grant to defray the actual cost of the connection from the curb shut-off valve to the house, including the cost of applicable permits. The amount of the grant will be either the actual costs incurred or Five Hundred Dollars ($500), whichever is the lesser amount. Connection fees charged by municipal utilities authorities, water departments or other suppliers are not grant eligible.

  • Dwelling unit must be owner-occupied, primary residence, either single family or two-family.
  • Household annual income must not exceed maximum annual income limits established for this program by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Water line must be complete and available for connection. Connections prior to application are NOT eligible.
  • Applicant must not have received monies from or be eligible to receive monies from the NJ Spill Fund Compensation Program.
  • Applicant must not be eligible for grant funds for connection to public water systems under other projects approved for funding by the Ocean County Community Development Block Grant Program.
  • Dwelling unit must be located in a municipality currently participating in the Ocean County CDBG Program. Brick, Toms River, Lakewood and Plumsted Townships administer separate CDBG Programs; therefore, residents in those townships are not eligible for this program.
